An appeal was made by the Golden Jubilee Celebration Committee of Darrang College, Tezpur, in ‘The Assam Tribune’ on 30/06/1995, requesting all the Ex-students of the College to be present in the College premises on 26th July, 1995 at 3 p.m. to discuss about the formation of an Alumni Association of the College. Thus, the first meeting towards the formation of an Alumni Association of the College was materialised on 26th July, 1995. In that meeting an ad-hoc Committee of the association was constituted with Sri Tara Prasad Saikia, Retd. Magistrate and now a Senior Advocate of Tezpur Bar as the President of the association. He happens to be a first batch (1945 – 46) student of the College. An ad-hoc body of 21 persons was formed with Dr. Abani Kr. Sharma as the convenor and Ms. Minoo Devi as the Asstt. Secretary. The meeting also deliberated different aspects of generating monetary contribution from all the ex-students with a view to make the Golden Jubilee a grand success. The organisers sincerely desired that the association would attract ex-students of the College spanning several generations, who are now settled in diverse fields across the country and abroad. The ex-students contributed a handsome amount for the celebration of Golden Jubilee, which took place from 14th to 16th November, 1997 with pomp and vigour. But the activity of the association receeded to the background once the celebration of the Golden Jubilee was over. With a view to revive the association and to make it a permanent body, an appeal to this effect was published in “The Assam Tribune” and “The Sentinel”, the two leading dailies of Assam on 29th May, 2002. On that basis a general meeting was held in the College premises on 8th July, 2002, with Sri Tara Prasad Saikia in Chair. The meeting after long deliberation and considering different pros & cons, constituted “Darrang College Alumni Association” (D.C.A.A.) with Sri Tara Prasad Saikia as President and Sri Diganta Chakraborty as the Secretary. The Alumni of the College also took a pledge to take an abiding interest in the development of their alma mater in matter of academic, intellectual and cultural enhancement in their broader perspective and to relate these to the advancement of the social utility of their alma mater.
It is pertinent to mention that when the College had observed its ‘Diamond Jubilee Celebration’ with a yearlong programme in a grand and befitting manner from 5th Sept. to 9th Sept. 2006, the Alumni also showed great solidarity towards the growth of the College by spending Rs.93,000/- for the rejuvenation of D.C.A.A. Office as well as by donating a sum of Rs. 2.5lakhs for the construction of College Auditorium. It alone speaks a volume its involvement in various progress and well-being of the institution.
The association has already helped a good number of needy and brilliant students with monetary benefits. The association also got constructed an iron-gate to the Boys’ Hostel. At the same time some dustbins are also provided to the hostels and the College.
The association also serves as a fruitful adviser towards the growth and development of the College.
From 2002 till to day, D.C.A.A. has been able to foster a spirit of co-operation, friendship and mutual help among all the students of the institution, both past and present. The association also keeps and maintains close contact with the College authority and participates in such activities as and when so desired.

The Darrang College Alumni Association was formed in the year 1995, since its inception the association has been engaged with the academic upliftment, intellectual and cultural enhancement of the college in broader prospective. The association provides economic support to the students of the college belonging to the poor section of the society. In all executive meetings of the association, various matters relating to development of youth mental health, regular yoga practices, coursing classes for various competitive examinations discuss by the experience and adept alumni of the college. Moreover, a website of the association was developed, named "darrangcollgealumni.org" for the greater benefits of the ex-darrangians saying different parts of the world. The association observes “Alumni Day” in the month of July every year in connection with the College Foundation Day. The association also distributes Life Member Certificates to the life members of the association. In the last executive meeting it was decided to provide solar street lights in the college campus. The association also serves as a fruitful adviser towards the growth and development of the College by participate in various events of the college.
